摘要(Abstract):
The distributions of GABA-immunoreactive (GABAir) cell bodies and terminals (fine puncta) were studied in the vestibular nuclei (VN) of the squirrel monkey and cat using antiserum to GABA and ABC procedure. All the GABAir neurons in VN were small. They were mainly found in rostral part of the medial vestibular nueleus(MVN) and ventral "y", as were the scattered GABAir terminals in neurapil. GABAir terminals surrounded somata and proximal dendrites of the unstained giant cells in dorsocaudal part of the lateral vestibular nucleus (LVN) . GABAir terminals also outlined a few unstained medium-sized neurons in central regiou and dorsal part of the superior vestibular nucleus (SVN), ventrolateral part of rostral MVN, rostrodorsal part of the inferior vestibular nucleus (IVN) and dorsal "y" in monkey, thereby suggesting the modulation of the vestibulo-ocular reflexes by GABAergic fibers from the flocculonodular lobule.
